One million euro treasure chest under key. This morning, the police carried out the provision with which the prevention measures section court of Reggio Calabria, fully accepting the requests of the public prosecutor and the police commissioner of the province of Reggio Calabria, ordered the confiscation of the movable and real estate assets of a entrepreneur from Reggio Emilia, active in the production and trade of industrial packaging sector, already sentenced by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Reggio to a prison sentence of 4 years and 6 months for the crime of mafia association in the “Larice 1” criminal case.
And, more recently, sentenced on 6 December 2021, with a first degree sentence issued in the “Helianthus” criminal proceedings, to 17 years and 4 months in prison for the crime of mafia association as a suspect, at the state of proceedings and without prejudice to subsequent assessments on the merits, of the crime of mafia-style criminal association as an affiliate of the “Labate” gang, operating in the Municipality of Reggio Calabria and in the surrounding areas.
“The asset investigations – they explain from the Reggio Calabria police station – have shown that the entrepreneur, in a period of time between the mid-80s and December 2021, had accumulated a large capital, disproportionate to the declared income”.
The confiscated assets
In execution of the provision, an individual company, an industrial building and a plot of land, all located in the capital of Reggio, two company vehicles and various financial relationships were confiscated, for a total amount of one million euros. The court also ordered the entrepreneur to be subject to a measure to prevent special public security surveillance with the obligation to stay in the municipality of residence for four years.
