Lamezia Terme – “Cinderella, A slipper for three” curated by Matutateatro and “Ritorno ad Oz” by the Compagnia Teatro Le Maschere. These are the two shows awarded at the National Children’s Theater Festival which will be staged at the Teatro Comunale Grandinetti for the National Festival of Utopia promoted in the city by the Lametina company Teatrop. “Cinderella, A slipper for three” is scheduled for June 12th at 6pm; the next day, always at the same time, it will be the turn of the “Return of Oz”. The Utopia festival in Lamezia will begin on June 11th with the arrival of the artists at the Costantino di Maida farmhouse, a location immersed in the olive groves of the Lamezia plain where companies from all over Italy will discuss the future of theater for the new generations.
The national assembly of Utopia will continue on the morning of June 12th; in the afternoon at 3pm, in the Grandinetti foyer, the artists gathered for the event will be the protagonists of the ‘pills of Utopia’. And, again, at 9.30 pm, again in the foyer of the municipal theatre, the meeting “Theatres without frontiers” will take place. On June 13th at 3 pm, in the foyer of the Grandinetti, the production of the Teatro del Drago will be performed “Ecommonster”. On the morning of June 14th, a ‘surprise show’ will be staged at the Costantino farmhouse.
Greta Belometti and Pierpaolo Bonaccurso, artistic directors of Teatrop reiterate that the Utopia festival “will bring to the city high-level artists and companies already established and appreciated on a national level. Lamezia – underlines the artistic direction of Teatrop – therefore becomes an ideal place for the presentation of shows and also a center where ideas and projects for new productions are discussed and developed. It is the avant-garde of Italian theater that plans and evolves by paying careful attention to the growth of children and young people who, thanks to this ancient art, can acquire basic knowledge for their development in all its aspects”. Definitely an important occasion for the families of Lamezia who are invited to participate in the great and engaging Utopia festival, to attend the shows to experience the beauty of the theater together.
The organizers point out that Teatrop is currently the only production company in the province of Catanzaro that is financed by the Fus (Single Entertainment Fund) of the Ministry of Culture. It is also highlighted that the Calabria Region actively supports the special project of Lamezia, of which the Utopia Festival (an acronym meaning “Union of operational theaters for children and adolescents) is one of the dedicated events. In fact, the “National Festival of Utopia ’24” is co-financed with PSC resources (Development and Cohesion Plan 6.02.02) provided as a result of the Notice of Special Projects for the development of theatrical activity of the Calabria Region – Education and Training Department and Equal Opportunities – Culture Sector.
