The Minister of Economy of Saudi Arabia visits Prato

Prato, 7 June 2024 – Two days of meetings to discover the Italian groupings of companies linked to textiles, design and automotive with the aim of presenting the organizational models and the excellence of the key sectors of the Made in Italy.

Meetings which had as their protagonists the Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal F. Alibrahimand the relevant ministerial delegation.

The visits took place between Florence, Prato and Modena to establish a direct connection with all the relevant activities that make up the cluster system.

The objective was to establish a close dialogue with companies, universities and regional clusters to enable technology transfer. Among the various inspections, one also took place in Prato, where the minister Alibrahim visited the headquarters of Next Technology Tecnotessilea national research company, leader on a European scale in technological research applied to business needs.

THE themes addressed during the meetings and debates were aimed at developing and strengthening ties with the world of Made in Italy. With a new focus on strengthening international relations. In Prato in particular, textiles, digital transition and technological innovation were also discussed. The two-day event was organized by the Made in Italy Cluster, to support synergies with all the key activities of the Ministry of Made in Italy.

“For us it was a moment of great importance – explains the president of Next Technology Tecnotessile, Massimo Biancalani -, which allowed us to open a dialogue on a global scale and to talk in depth about what we do on a daily basis alongside businesses and within ministerial and European projects”. “The meeting was particularly fruitful – adds Enrico Venturini, senior researcher at Next Technology Tecnotessile -. And now the ambition is to be able to start a constant dialogue with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for partnerships and collaborations on targeted projects. In particular for the construction of value chains inspired by the winning models of Italian manufacturing. The Prato district and its production entities can play a key role in this context”.

Commenting on the main results of the meetings, the president of the Made in Italy Cluster, Matteo Tonon, declared: “We are very satisfied with what was achieved in these two important days of intense activity – he concludes -. We have given rise to a series of constructive meetings with extraordinary potential to strengthen Made in Italy in the Saudi market, whose growth and development data, especially in the innovative field, are highly significant”.
