Last June 4, the State Police carried out some arrests of crime suspects issued by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catania against CB aged 51, GR aged 62, PA aged 48, all with criminal prejudices. The suspects are accused of attempted murder against the former justice collaborator DI MARTINO Roberto and of mafia-type criminal association.

The attempted murder of Di Martino: the investigations
The police investigations were started immediately after the attempted murder of Di Martino, which occurred on 25 April last to Vittoria. These allowed us to hypothesize the responsibility of the people under investigation. The brutal ambush, which occurred with firearms, could be traced back to acriminal organization mafia-style army belonging to the “Victorian stidda”.
Within the criminal association there was the objective ofphysical elimination of a list of people who have collaborated with Justice and who are present in Vittoria. The aim was revenge, also aimed at Consolidation of the control of illicit affairs of interest to the criminal organization.
The investigative activity underlying the measures adopted made it possible to shed light on the availability of weapons, even from war. It is possible that those associated with the mafia clan used them to carry out the organisation’s criminal plan. That is, to acquire the check of economic activities in the city through extortion activities carried out against numerous entrepreneurs and traders. In confirmation of this at the time of capture for the attempted murder of Di Martino, CB had in his possession a 357 magnum revolver with abraded serial number and loaded with the relevant ammunition.
Once the formalities had been completed, the detainees were brought to the Catania – Bicocca prison. After the hearing, the investigating judge issued a validation order on the arrests ordered and carried out.
