the feast of Corpus Domini between faith and events

The festival opens its doors tonight Corpus Christi to the Libertà district, which has always marked the start of summer religious and civil celebrations both in the capital and in the province. An anniversary of significant historical importance in the popular tradition of the city which, however, in the last decade had seen anticipation and participation debased with the abolition of the civil festival and the presence of the traditional “stalls”, music, shows and rides. From this year, therefore, we return to the past at the behest of the religious, political and institutional authorities, as well as the thousands of inhabitants of the neighborhood, with the installation, alongside the religious celebrationseven a rich person civil program.

THE CHOICES

«We wanted to give this festival the right and deserved relevance again – says the councilor Louis Ambrosone – with a series of celebrations, including civil ones. We responded enthusiastically to the request community Of San Modesto and the party committee, preparing the area for stands, rides and more. We will certainly experience three evocative days of faith and tradition, we expect massive participation not only from the populous district but from the entire city and the surrounding provinces.” From today to Sunday, therefore, the church of San Modesto will celebrate the feast of Corpus Domini. It will be a moment of prayer and spirituality, of general involvement, as hoped for by the parish administrator Don Leonardo Lepore. The religious program began yesterday and includes, in addition to Eucharistic adoration, the celebration of masses. On Sunday, after the mass scheduled for 6.30 pm, there will be the eagerly awaited Corpus Domini procession accompanied by the bandCity of Molinara”, which will cross the streets of Naples, Piccinato, Bari, Salerno, Battisti, Florence, Venice and Milan until reaching Piazza San Modesto, the epicenter of the festival.

«After the diocesan procession which took place last Sunday from the Cathedral to the Basilica of the Madonna delle Grazie, the Corpus Domini procession of the parish of San Modesto – explains Don Leonardo -, as per tradition and for historical reasons, has a unique value, given that it is the only parish in the city to have the privilege of bringing the living and true Jesus among the people. There community of San Modesto, thanks to the active commitment of the celebration committee and the parish groups, it has prepared itself in the best possible way to experience these days of grace through the passage through the streets of the district of Jesus Eucharist”. Together with the presence of traditional stallsthere will be carousels to entertain the little ones.
