From September a new public transport stop will be active at the Green Cross headquarters in the street of the same name. Currently, in fact, the ‘nearest’ stop is at the Baragalla Coop, where the bus terminus is, but from here to the Green Cross there are 700 meters to cover on foot and not in safety given the high traffic road that leads from via Tenni leads to via England.
“We made this request – explain the director and president of the Croce Verde funeral home, Stefano Bigliardi and Domenico Schiatti – to provide an additional service to the people who come here. For each funeral service there are on average 200 people per day and, counting who works and volunteers, we are talking about a place of passage for a thousand people, it seemed right to give the opportunity to arrive here by bus for several important reasons: first of all because it is the elderly in particular who have access to our services and who perhaps cannot. driving. And then also for a discussion of environmental sustainability between reducing the number of cars in circulation and having fewer cars in the car park. So also for our employees and volunteers who will have an alternative transport option to get here”.
A bus stop that will serve not only the funeral home, but also the retirement home and the nearby parish. “We want to personally thank the councilor for mobility Carlotta Bonvicini who made all this possible. Without her listening and her interest in these needs, we would certainly have had more difficulty in obtaining it with the times that would have been extended”, conclude Schiatti and Bigliardi.
“We took the request into consideration – explains councilor Carlotta Bonvicini – to give relief to users, but also for an expanding and populous neighbourhood. The request was forwarded to the Mobility Agency which with its technicians is evaluating the best solution on the route by modifying line 10. There are several hypotheses and the most popular is to extend the route in via della Croce Verde, making an extra stop, and then returning to the terminus at the Coop Baragalla. It will certainly be active from September”.
