The first trail building course at Passo Tonale | Gazzetta delle Valli
This is the objective of the IMBA Trail Building Workshop, the first trail building course at Passo Tonale, scheduled for Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June: the initiative, which includes a theoretical and a practical part, is intended for all those who intend learn the sustainable construction and maintenance techniques of MTB trails, but also to those who are new to trail building and want to learn the basics.

The first day will be spent in the classroom, where IMBA Italia teachers will address a series of topics linked to the basic rules of the IMBA sustainable path, which concern the tracing, evaluation and management of slopes, planning for correct water disposal, creation of a path halfway up the coast, the management and removal of marshy areas, as well as the essential tools and some valuable knowledge on how to work safely.

All these topics will be taken up and analyzed the next day in the field, carrying out maintenance interventions on the paths so as to make them less subject to erosion and even more suitable for multi-user use.

The workshop will therefore be an opportunity to understand how a well-designed trail requires less maintenance and can be even more fun for mountain bike enthusiasts.

The IMBA Trail Building Workshop is developed in collaboration between IMBA Italia, the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium and Val di Sole Bikeland.

And for those who want to combine training and practice From Saturday 8 June the Bike Park Pontedilegno-Tonale will reopen with 8 routes (two blue, four red and two black) that wind between Passo Tonale and Temù, passing through Ponte di Legno. The three routes of Passo Tonale, reachable by the Valbiolo chairlift which will be in operation until 8 September, are located in open fields and are characterized by “flow” terrain. The Ponte di Legno and Temù routes, reachable with the Valbione chairlifts (open on the weekend of 8-9 June and continuously from 15 June) and Roccolo Ventura (open on the weekends of 8-9, 15-16 June and continuously from 22 June, as well as the Ponte-Tonale cable car), are instead located inside the woods and test the bikers’ concentration and balance skills.
