Frost. The cost amounts to 25 million euros and has just been confirmed in the update of the list of orphan sites, released by the Ministry of the Environment. These are the sums necessary for all the “design, management, execution and testing of emergency safety measures, Pdc (updating-integration), risk analysis, permanent safety measures, with confinement or reclamation by excavation and removal of all active sources of primary contamination, rehabilitation of environmental matrices and environmental restoration of the areas of the Biviere di Gela oriented nature reserve”. Biviere is one of the seven Sicilian orphan sites, included in the decree issued by the ministry and published in the official gazette at the beginning of June. It is classified in the Sin of Gela. For years, those responsible for the reserve have insisted that the entire area be subjected to comprehensive monitoring, aimed at safety and reclamation activities. Based on the data indicated in the decree, the affected area covers an area of ​​2,110,000 square metres. The ministry, for all the Italian orphan sites listed in the provision, calculates a total allocation of 500 million euros. The coverage is the M2C4 measure, investment 3.4 of the Pnrr and the conclusion of the activities is set for 2026.
