After four long years of legal battles, the dispute between the former councilor Francesca Trapani and the councilor Giuseppe La Porta has come to an end. The tones between the two became heated for some time, resulting in criminal proceedings which were ultimately dismissed. Today, both affirm their intention to establish a new institutional path, based on mutual respect, while maintaining opposing political positions.
«I have always believed that politics was based on discussion, even lively ones, on issues, administrative choices and community growth prospects – says Francesca Trapani –. In past years of City Council, I have always tried to give my contribution. There were moments of heated debate, aimed exclusively at criticizing administrative actions and never with the intention of offending people as such. The end of the dispute with La Porta closes a political phase, the one that saw me among the seats of Palazzo Cavarretta. I will continue in my current role as citizen representative of the M5S to express my dissent towards this administration, always respecting people and individual dignity.”
Giuseppe La Porta expresses similar sentiments: «As representatives of the community it is our responsibility to promote a constructive and respectful dialogue, avoiding verbal and lexical excesses which, in the past, have compromised the serenity of the debate. Today – continues Giuseppe La Porta – I am satisfied that the issue with the former councilor Trapani, also on a judicial level, has been concluded. Our political paths are very distant, but we will continue the peaceful discussion disciplined by mutual respect.”
