AGI – It happens, it’s called “beautiful live broadcast”, or perhaps “ugly”. It’s the enthusiasm you put into presenting a guest, or a service, or a topic. And in my head the words flow as they should. But then something gets stuck and that text, perhaps read a thousand times before pronouncing it, that name which can only be that and only that, transforms and takes an absurd turn.

For those who work with written texts, the blame was once placed on the typographer, now on the more impersonal automatic corrector, but in video there is no blame that matters. And so the landing in Normandy, that D-day which remains a watershed not only for the Second World War, but above all for modern history, moves several hundred kilometres, crosses the whole of France and lands, no one knows how, in Lombardy , that he has always dreamed of the sea and has waged endless wars for an outlet on the Mediterranean.

It was the turn of the host of Unomattina Estate, Domenico Marocchi. The firm voice, the decisive tone, the slightly emphatic style: indispensable ingredients for a perfect announcement, but also for an irremediable gaffe. The assonance between Lombardy and Normandy is there, but it wasn’t a question of composing a rhyme. There was a choice between one or the other.
