PESARO – Operational table for safety in the workplace. This is what emerged from the meeting in the Prefecture on Wednesday evening.

It was the answer that many were waiting for and the unions were strongly asking for after the latest death at work which shook the hearts and consciences of many, namely the fatal accident at the Fab in Gallo di Petriano, in which the young worker lost his life 33 year old Simone Mezzolani, father of two small children. Upon leaving the meeting, the prefect Emanuele Saveria Greco took stock of the situation with the press

«Safety in the workplace, within a few weeks we will modify the 2020 protocol, there will be an operational table at work», explained the prefect Emanuela Saveria Greco.

«The table was requested by the unions and we convened it quickly. All the appropriate and necessary parties were present to achieve this a pact, to the signing of a protocol that can be aimed at improving the situationknowledge, information, safety in the workplace”.

«Many times – continued Prefect Greco – the problem is lack of training or information. There will be different trajectories that we will follow to improve the situation. We are going to modify an agreement signed in 2020, which is now a bit dated. There will be an operational table made up of representatives of the employers’ side, trade unions, the labor inspectorate and other bodies, who will propose changes to that 2020 protocol. Then there will be a new meeting, all this by June, in which we will define all the changes with the aim of improving the conditions of the places where the work takes place”.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Urbino, after the accident that occurred at the Fab, opened a case: the crime is suspected of being manslaughter. Last Wednesday, a trade union rally was held to ask for safety in the workplace and the opening of a table in the prefecture, which then led to a prompt response from the prefect.
