Savona. “The new regulation of the Municipality of Savona on the tourist tax is in conflict with the provisions of the regional law, in Savona bed and breakfasts are equated to a four-star hotel“. THE owners of some (six) bed and breakfasts in Savona are not giving up and, in addition to three requests for a meeting with the prefect (the letters were sent on 27 February, 8 April and 18 April) without response, they also asked the Municipality for another meeting.
The innovation introduced at the beginning of February by Palazzo Sisto provides that the amount of the tourist tax is the same (3.50 euros per day) for B&Bs, 4-star hotels, holiday homes, furnished apartments for tourist use managed in a non entrepreneurial.
“It should be noted – they write in the letter – that in no other municipality in Liguria has the directive relating to the classification of accommodation facilities and consequently the amount been modified. We were not involved in the meeting prior to the approval of the new regulation. With this change we went from 1.30 to 3.50 per day, a big difference. It’s a fare from Venice or Florence.”
“This measure will keep tourists away that although they do not wish to use the services and cannot afford the costs of 4-star hotels, they will be asked for an additional cost of 3.50 euros per day”, they conclude in the letter.
Councilor Nicoletta Negro explains that For any changes will be expected at the end of summer: “None of them were at the meeting because we involved the categories and they are not members of the consortium. But I have always been available to meet those who wanted to discuss. We remained we agreed that we would update in September, leaving open the possibility of reducing the amount, with a budget for the summer season. Their proposal to differentiate solo facilities is on the table (classification attributed according to the level of service offered, similarly to hotel stars)”.
In the city, the beds are divided equally between hotels and non-hotel facilities: “We decided on the same rate because they are high-level establishments: well-kept and connected to services”.
