Giada Zanola, funeral date set: it will be celebrated in Brescia

PADUA – The funeral of Giada Zanola, the 33-year-old woman killed in Vigonza (Padua) thrown from the overpass onto the motorway by her ex-partner will be celebrated tomorrow, 6 June, at 1.45pm in the church of San Silvestro in Folzano, a district of Brescia Andrea Favero, 38 years old, now in prison.

Tomorrow there will be city mourning in Vigonza, where Giada lived with her partner and her 3-year-old son. There was doubt as to whether to celebrate her funeral in the city where the woman lived and was killed or in Brescia, where she was born and her entire family lives. In the end the father preferred to say goodbye to his daughter in the church of San Silvestro in Folzano.

The murder of Giada Zanola

It was 3.30am on May 29th when, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, Giada was thrown over the parapet of the overpass on Via Prati, above the A4 motorway in Vigonza, a few meters from where the couple lived. The woman fell on the asphalt of the motorway and was hit and killed by a truck which hit her and dragged her for a few metres. The hypothesis is that Giada was still alive when Favero threw her downstairs. But we will have to wait for the results of the toxicological test to understand whether the woman had been drugged. During the autopsy, marks were found on her arms, similar to those on Favero’s upper limbs: the two had argued furiously on the 27th and those were the scratches resulting from the outburst.

Giada’s cell phone searches

Everything about Giada Zanola was found: the handbag and the documents with which she left the house the night between last Tuesday and Wednesday. As well as the same clothes she was wearing: home clothes, as if to testify that before those fatal minutes she was in her home in via Prati 8. What is missing, in fact, is the smartphone of the 33-year-old, former sales assistant at Sirene Blu di Vigonovo. The police searched everywhere, on the highway itself, on the edge of the kilometer that leads from the house to the overpass, concentrating all the searches in that radius, since the last cell connected to Giada Zanola’s phone is the same one that covers Giada Zanola’s house. her and the overpass on the A4. Finding the phone in that area would mean that Favero never moved from the area between the bridge and his house and would have thrown the phone away while returning to his house, when his Ford C-Max was filmed by a private camera that immortalized him as he came down from the bridge.

The possible motive for the crime

Giada had told a friend several times that she had fear that her partner drugged her. Added to this are also the versions of Giada’s relatives and friends who repeatedly reiterated to the police how the young woman had no reason to choose the path of suicide: she had started a new relationship, was in love with her son and was starting a new job. All aspects which, according to her prosecutor’s office, would be the motive for the murder, already admitted during her summary information: she would have grabbed her by the knees and thrown her down the parapet.
