University of Siena, new leap forward in the international ranking

The University of Siena grows in the prestigious QS World University Rankings for the second consecutive year. The University gains over 40 positions and is placed between 691st and 700th place worldwide, achieving a substantial improvement and positioning itself firmly above the average of the over 1500 universities selected by QS in the world. The high number of citations to academic publications, participation in international networks, the index of academic reputation and that of employers contributed to the good result at a global level.

The item dedicated to employability is also improving (17th place).

“In the new edition of the QS World University Rankings – commented the Rector Roberto Di Pietra – the University of Siena significantly increases its overall score and moves up the ranking, gaining more than forty positions compared to last year. Its international vocation is rewarded, as is its ability to carry out quality research, recognized by the University’s high reputational index. Also significant are the good study conditions that our students find, with a teacher/student ratio that has few equals and a fully livable environment, with short distances and large green spaces both at university and city level”.

The QS survey is drawn up annually by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds; for this 2025 edition, the twenty-first, the scientific production and the number of citations were analysed, the degree of internationalisation, which takes into consideration the ability to participate in research networks with foreign partners and the attractiveness towards international students, and good academic and employer reputation.
