A festive atmosphere pervaded the Piazzale d’Armi of Forte Michelangelo this morning, where 135 students from the schools “Istituto Comprensivo Piazzale della Gioventù 1” of Santa Marinella and “Istituto Comprensivo XVI Settembre” of Civitavecchia marked the end of a important international educational adventure.

The eTwinning project “The Fantastic Four” concluded with a ceremony which saw the participation of the Maritime Director of Lazio, the Captain of the vessel Michele Castaldo and the mayor Ernesto Tedesco. The children, accompanied by teachers and parents, were warmly welcomed to celebrate the success of their educational internationalization journey.

The day began with the solemn flag-raising ceremony, during which the young voices of the children emotionally sang the Italian anthem. The commander

Castaldo highlighted the Coast Guard’s commitment to promoting maritime culture and environmental protection, underlining water as an irreplaceable resource.

Mayor Tedesco highlighted the importance of civic education, also transmitted through training events like this. He praised the initiative, which contributes to developing a sense of European citizenship and environmental awareness among the new generations.

The event was enriched by singing performances prepared by the students, who brought joy and fun to the ceremony. These activities were coordinated by the school directors Velia Ceccarelli and Francesca Licciardello and by the teachers, who expressed gratitude for the welcome and availability they received.

The project coordinator, teacher Elisa Delle Fave, created this initiative which combined education and multiculturalism, demonstrating the power of collaborative learning within a European community. With the closing of “The Fantastic Four”, Civitavecchia has left an indelible mark in the hearts of its young citizens, ready to navigate towards new educational horizons.
