Direct, electric, ecological: new bus service from 5 June
of Marconi Express between the airport and the center of Bologna
On Wednesday 5 June, in view of the high season of airport traffic, “Marconi Express 949” kicks off: the new line on 100% electric buses, activated by Marconi Express and Tper in agreement with the Municipality of Bologna, will support during the monorail service in summer, directly connecting Marconi airport and the city center, with terminus in Piazza Malpighi, without intermediate stops.
The line will be active for a period of three months until 8 September and will last 22 hours a day, starting from 4 am (with the first run from Piazza Malpighi) until 2 am (last run from the airport at 1.32 am ). The frequency will be one trip every 33 minutes. The fleet that will make the connection includes only ecological and 100% electric buses, including 3 new models of the Heuliez brand by Iveco Bus, supplied to Marconi Express by Maresca and Fiorentino.
Marconi Express tickets can be used on the new service at the same price as the monorail, with the possibility of payment through the “Pay&Go Contactless” system at the turnstiles installed on the buses: the tickets provide 75 minute urban integration and full operability with people mover.
The new discounted fare “Flex solo Bus 949” is also available, worth 9.80 euros for a single journey, without urban integration. The ticket can only be purchased on the MarconiExpress.it website, at the ticket machine at the “Airport” terminus (payment by credit card is recommended) and through the Roger app, selecting the title “Flex solo Bus 949”.
To meet the habits of users, in the coming weeks the night line “Marconi Express 940” will remain active, which guarantees the connection between the high-speed station and the airport for passengers departing with the first flights of the morning and arriving with the last of the night.
At the end of the summer period, Marconi Express and the Municipality of Bologna will evaluate whether to propose the service again.
