he set fire to and killed his partner. Preliminary hearing for Bronzolino begins

The Court of Marsala is preparing to begin the trial against Onofrio ‘Ninni’ Bronzolino, accused of the murder of Anna Elisa Fontana, his partner, in a tragic event that occurred in Pantelleria last September. Bronzolino is accused of throwing gasoline on the woman and setting her on fire, causing her death after three days of excruciating suffering following serious burns.

After seven months of investigations conducted by the Marsala Public Prosecutor’s Office, with the support of the Marsala Carabinieri Operations Unit, the Pantelleria Carabinieri Station, the Messina Carabinieri RIS and the Palermo Fire Brigade NIAT, a request for Bronzolino to be sent to trial has been made. The prosecution claims that the man had premeditated the action, driven by “exaggerated and unjustified jealousy” and that in the days preceding the event he had explicitly threatened to set her on fire.

Bronzolino is also accused of continuous mistreatment of his partner, including physical aggression, insults and threats, situations that the victim had never reported to the authorities. These behaviors were described as constant intrusions into every aspect of the victim’s daily life, exercising a pressing and oppressive control.

The case has aroused particular horror for the cruelty of the methods of the attack and the premeditation of Bronzolino’s actions, with the aggravating circumstances of having committed the murder against his partner and during an episode of family abuse. The charges also include the crime of arson, since Bronzolino allegedly set fire to the apartment where the murder took place.

The preliminary hearing is set for today, July 3, 2024, with Bronzolino remaining in custody since September 22, 2023. The community now awaits justice in one of the most shocking cases in recent times in the province of Trapani.

JEALOUSY AS A MOTIVE. The murder of Anna Elisa Fontana in Pantelleria, which occurred last September, shocked the local community for its brutality and for the motive that emerged from the investigation: jealousy. Onofrio ‘Ninni’ Bronzolino, the victim’s partner, is accused of throwing gasoline on her and setting her on fire, causing her death after three days of excruciating suffering.

According to a reconstruction, the motive for the murder could be traced back to jealousy triggered by a simple greeting that Anna Elisa allegedly made to another man inside a bar. This gesture, apparently harmless, would have unleashed Bronzolino’s murderous wrath.

Returning home, the man doused his partner with gasoline and then set her on fire. This horrifying and brutal act has led to a complication in Bronzolino’s legal situation, with the charge being upgraded from attempted murder to aggravated murder. The charges against him include premeditation, cruelty and abject and futile motives, as well as mistreatment in the family.
