With the fourth place overall in the Pistoia-Abetone, the Montale runner David Fiesoli, of Aurora di Montale, became the Italian champion of ultra uphill running, that is, in the 50 km, for the Seniors 40 category, which includes athletes from 40 to 44 years old. The 47th edition of the Pistoia-Abetone was in fact worth the Italian championship both in the absolute sense and for the various Fidal categories. For David Fiesoli it is a well-deserved Italian title also because his fourth place has a notable sporting value given that the Montale runner was the first Tuscan and naturally the first Pistoia native to cross the finish line in Abetone with a time of 3 hours and 45′. David Fiesoli gave himself a nice birthday present given that he turned 41 on the very day of the race. This is his third time at the Pistoia-Abetone and over the years he has even improved his personal best, which was 3:50 in 2017, when he came in fourth. After eighth place in 2018, Fiesoli had not taken part in the Pistoia 50 kilometers until this year. “I tried to prepare well – says Fiesoli – since January I have run two thousand kilometers and as many by bike, even if you are never completely ready for the Pistoia-Abetone, it is a race where anything can happen to you, even a sudden crisis, this time I did well and I am pleased with this result also for Aurora, the Montale association for which I have always run”. Satisfaction from all the members of Aurora, a historic Montale running group founded in 1975, from the president Sergio Betti and from the sponsor Efi Electronics of Leonardo Fabbri.
