(UNWEB) For a new organization and coordinated management of resources at provincial and regional level, and for the training, qualification and updating of personnel working in our territory.
After careful and meticulous consultation work, the administrative process of the proposed law to amend Regional Law 1/2005 regulating the Local Police has been completed in the First Permanent Commission – which I have the honour of chairing – and is now ready for approval in the Chamber by the Regional Legislative Assembly.
The changes introduced in the Regional Law
The most important changes that will be introduced by this change in law concern the organization and management of services at local, provincial and regional levels, including a stronger focus on training, qualification and refresher courses for all employed personnel.
The strengthening in giving more opportunities to Local Authorities to create associative forms and at the same time the detailed definition of the minimum equipment for individual agents, will mark other important steps forward for the univocal construction of a Local Police force.
The reasons that led to the definition of a single overall framework at regional level are best exemplified in the identification of a single uniform for all the corps and commands in the Umbria Region and, above all, in the definition of the future and imminent activation of provincial operations rooms that will be able to manage interventions on an inter-municipal scale and/or that require a broad-spectrum operational coordination.

In thanking my fellow councilors Stefano Pastorelli, Paola Fioroni, Eleonora Pace, Daniele Carissimi and Eugenio Rondini who shared with me the signature on this important law, I hope for a broad convergence when the act will soon arrive in the chamber, in order to be able to systematize all the changes and innovations also resulting from the suggestions of the Mayors and the Local Police personnel who operate daily in our municipalities.
