The project not only stimulates the creativity of the participants but also aims to support the recovery of the parental role for prisoners by involving their children and family members in a mediation space alternative to traditional interviews.

Everything is ready in Brescia for “Unlock – Artistic escapes”the review dedicated to the theme of imprisonment and the prison condition to be held at Diocesan Museum Wednesday 19 June. This is the 2024 edition of the theater party “Legami in Spazi Aperti”one of the actions of the social theater project “Fragili Legami”.

This project, born in 2009 from the collaboration between theCatholic University of the Sacred Heart of Brescia and the Brescia Verziano Prison, aims to integrate artistic and performative practices into the re-education paths of prisoners. The initiative will be developed through a continuous workshop with prisoners, men and women, students and more which adopts participatory performative methods with the aim of promoting personal and community development through theatre, play and expressiveness.

The project not only stimulates the creativity of the participants but also aims to support the recovery of the parental role for prisoners involving their children and family members in a mediation space alternative to traditional conversations. The event will open at 3pm on Wednesday 19 June with the “Fragili Legami” workshopan open laboratory conducted jointly by inmates of the Brescia Verziano prison.

There will be some with them guests of the San Giovanni di Dio Fatebenefratelli psychiatric day center in Brescia they students of the Social Theater course of the DAMS of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Brescia. This session, organized in collaboration with the prison management and educational team, represents a moment of great importance to show the results of the path undertaken and to promote social inclusion through art.

Entrance to the laboratory is free, but Reservations are required given limited availability. Reservations can be made by writing to [email protected]. Following, at 5 pm, a round table will be held on the theme “The integration of artistic and performative practices in re-educational treatment”.

Who will attend the meeting

This meeting will see the participation of illustrious speakers including Francesca Paola Lucrezi, Director of the Brescia Verziano Prison and of the Nerio Fischione prison in Brescia, Claudio Bernardi and Carla Coletti of the Catholic University of the Sacred HeartGiulia Innocenti Malini of the University of Pavia, Barbara Pizzetti of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and the founders of the Puntozero association and Teatro Puntozero BeccariaGiuseppe Scutellà and Lisa Manzoni.

At the round table The students of the DAMS Social Theater course and the prisoners who took part in the “Fragili Legami” workshop will also participate. The discussion will be moderated by the scientific director of the project, Carla Bino of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
