Passionate about hunting since he was a boy, Pellegrini raised the problem of the restrictions imposed on hunters due to the environmentalist culture which, according to the candidate, has now taken an extremist drift in Europe: «We must start from Europe to change things – explains Pilgrims – because primarily it is a cultural problem that points to hunters as criminals. We must equalize Italian hunting with that of other European countries and eliminate specific restrictions with targeted directives.”

We must eliminate all those absurd constraints that criminalize hunters, we must give them the opportunity to exercise their role as primary guardians of the environment. If hunters could freely practice hunting, for example, there would be no need to resort to the practice of controlled killing and, certainly, the problem of predation would also be reduced.”

I have seen it first-hand while traveling around central Italy in recent months. All this could be remedied by starting from recognizing hunters’ role as regulators of nature.”
