Greek’s tower. She was incapable of understanding and wanting when on the evening of January 2, 2022 in Torre del Greco, Adalgisa Gamba killed her son: this was decided by the Court of Assizes of Naples which acquitted the woman of the charge of premeditated murder of her son.
The verdict was greeted with dissent by the accused’s husband who, in room 115 of the New Palace of Justice in Naples, with the Court still present, told her “You must die, you are a murderer” and then wished his wife a bad thing.
The judge found Adalgisa Gamba not attributable at the time of the crime and applied the security measure of probation, for no less than 15 years, at a rehabilitation facility. The reasons for the sentence will be given within 90 days.
“It was a particularly difficult process, both professionally and humanly, but justice has finally been done. Gisa was acquitted because she is a sick person. Now, step by step, we must help her so that she returns to normality,” said the lawyer Salvatore del Giudice, Adalgisa Gamba’s lawyer, after the verdict. “Fundamental for today’s verdict were the psychiatric reports that helped the judges to enter Gisa’s mind and shed light on her pathology,” comments clinical criminologist Alessandra Bramante, consultant to the defendant’s lawyer.
