Last May 31, the mayoral candidate De Vincenzi was publicly challenged by the mayoral candidate of the Independent List Per Pietra, Mario Carrara, to a direct “American-style” confrontation, face to face, in front of everyone, at the cinema theater or in the square , so that their positions can be compared on the most important, if not “fundamental”, programmatic aspects for the future of the city.
“Since the direct election of mayors exists, the “face to face” comparison has always taken place! In Pietra Ligure, in the last elections of 2019, when there were four mayoral candidates, the ‘American-style’ public confrontation, in which De Vincenzi also participated, it was done! This year it has already been done, with great public participation, in Albenga and in Finale Ligure where there are also elections and with a plurality of mayoral candidates competing”, comments the mayoral candidate. “Why in Pietra Ligure where there are only two mayoral candidates and they present conflicting and alternative programmes, direct public debate cannot be done? There is fear of doing so”, attacks Carrara.
“This is why we insist on the democratic request: ‘De Vincenzi: don’t shy away! Don’t “run away!’ Reply! Yes to a direct public confrontation in the square or at the cinema theater before the elections! “Escaping” from your responsibilities is not democracy!
