Bologna, 4 June 2024 – The city is dressed up for the ‘Bologna Portici Festival’, the event which aims to enhance historical sites and rich in meaning of the city. These certainly include: porcheswhich for three years now have entered the long list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. For the occasion, from 5 to 9 Junethe ‘Luci a San Luca’ event, a project by Cesare Cremonini made with the help of German land-light artist Philipp Frank.

For five nights, splendid plays of light are preparing to illuminate approximately two km of arcades, fromarch of Meloncello up to BBasilica of San Lucaand to dispel any doubts we have collected all the useful information on the event, from new compared to 2023 until the changes to traffic.
The event
‘Lights in San Luca‘ was born from an idea of Cesare Cremonini and contributes strongly to animating the city in view of the ‘Bologna Portici Festival‘, scheduled from 4 to 9 June in various districts of the city. To complete the creation of the suggestive projectthe Bolognese singer-songwriter collaborated with the German artist Philipp Frankspecialized in light installations.
The event tells the story Bologna through lights and colorsanimating one of the most iconic places in the city that leads to one of the panoramic spots best known. The installations reflect the feelings and the emotions of the city in a year full of important celebrations: come on 150 years from the birth of the fellow citizen Guglielmo Marconione of the most influential inventors in modern history, to the more than satisfactory sports season culminating with the historic qualification in Champions League of the team soccer Red Blue.
Made with the support of municipality of Bologna and the patronage of Emilia Romagna regionthe lighting technology in question is ready to animate further 300 bows allowing a fusion with the surrounding natural landscape.
The news
Walking among the light installations, it will be possible to witness the height of the curve of the Orfanelle, to a unique and new visual spectacle compared to those proposed last year: trees here they will merge with the light projections, giving life to a surreal atmosphere. The main innovation compared to2023 edition lies in the fact that the images in question will be accompanied by unreleased music made by Cremoniniwritten for the occasion together with the musician and producer Alessandro Magnanini. The true soundtrack of the experience, however, remains the discography of Lucio Dallawhose voice accompanies visitors for approximately the entire journey.
Shortly before the final arrival at the Basilica of Saint LukeFurthermore, one is reproduced on the porch special installation video by Philipp Frank that mixes architecture, nature and technology for a perfect combination. The German artist is certainly there novelty more significant than last year.
During 2023, the event had attracted several hundred people. The notable flow of visitors had induced the municipality of Bologna to close the stretch of road from Meloncello up to Basilicawhich also happens this year.
Changes to traffic
