Extinction Rebellion blitz at Palazzo Papadopoli: no to the sale of Venice to an elite. Activists identified

Helmet on head and ropes in hand, the blitz by Extinction Rebellion activists Tuesday 4 June morning arrived at Palazzo Papadopoli, former headquarters of the municipal police, in Venice.

“Environmental crisis, green light for the municipality of Venice”, this is the pink banner lowered from the terrace of the building, on which the eco activists, about ten, climbed coming from Venice and Padua.

«Palazzo Papadopoli was sold in January to a Chinese tycoon. And the symbol of the sell-off of parts of Venice to an elitethe symbol of the mismanagement of the city by the municipality”, explain the activists, underlining how the exploitation is not only environmental but ecosystemic, “which concerns both the environment and the city itself”.

For this reason, several posters against the Brugnaro administration were hung on the railings of the building.

“The Venetian citizens, having noted the sentences of the European Court of Justice, order the municipality of Venice to relinquish all institutional positions due to the accusation of environmental crimes”, they write.

The activists have all been identified, but there should be no basis for a complaint.
