The “Sgusciate” project, the project of the Calabrian Solidarity Center Ets which led to the creation of a snail farm, Helix Aspersa species, in compliance with the organic production standards, has been concluded.

The initiative of the Third Sector Organization aimed at promoting sustainable and social agriculture with the aim of guaranteeing well-being and health for all, with particular attention to the most vulnerable age groups.

Through the “Sgusciate?” project the Calabrian Solidarity Center Ets focused on objectives such as: putting an end to all forms of poverty and promoting sustainable agriculture, addressing the conditions of fragility and disadvantage of the person to intervene on the phenomena of marginality and social exclusion. Agriculture thus becomes a tool for socio-work inclusion, offering integration opportunities for fragile and vulnerable people.

This type of agriculture, in particular, in addition to promoting environmental sustainability, also offers an important opportunity for job placement for disadvantaged people, thus contributing to the reduction of the unemployment rate and the fight against poverty.

The training course offered to the beneficiaries of the project allowed them, step by step, to acquire high-value agricultural skills, facilitating their reintegration into the world of work and promoting their social and working inclusion.

The project saw the involvement of 3 volunteers and 8 beneficiaries, was born in the context of the territorial reality of the Catanzaro area, characterized by a general condition of absolute poverty and growing relative and educational poverty, and emerges as a fundamental initiative to offer solutions concrete and innovative.

Agriculture thus becomes a tool for socio-work inclusion, offering integration opportunities for fragile and vulnerable people: reintegration into the world of work becomes a priority need that can only be met through liberation from a condition of dependence, poor autonomy and poverty, with concrete help when starting again.

“Investing in similar projects means investing in the future of fragile individuals, in social cohesion and in the sustainable development of the territory – states the project coordinator, Debora Vitale -. The success of the ‘Sgusciate’ Project would not have been possible without the teamwork, dedication and passion of all those who contributed: from the beneficiaries who believed in themselves and their potential, to the team of experts who supported them with professionalism and competence, up to the institutions and bodies that financed and supported the initiative. The ‘Sgusciate’ project ends, but it only marks the beginning of a new chapter for the beneficiaries. Now, strengthened by the skills acquired and the newfound confidence, they are ready to face the future with renewed hope and determination, actively contributing to society and building a better tomorrow.”

For the “Sgusciate” project, the Calabrian Solidarity Center Ets avails itself of the collaboration of the Eureka Cooperative and Confartigianato Imprese Calabria, who worked together to guarantee the success and sustainability of the initiative.
