Usb Taxi: demonstration at Lamezia airport on 5 June

Lamezia Terme – “After the strong signal sent by USB Taxi Calabria with over 90% support for the USB strike. Tomorrow June 5th they will repeat themselves, or rather they will double because in addition to the strike they will hold a Sit-in of protests against multinationals and against illegal practices given that the enforcement service from those who should combat illegality is still slow”. This is what Usb taxi states in a note, they inform that “the national reasons that led us to this choice are attributable to the situation relating to the implementing decrees of Law no. 12/2019, the suspension of the comparison and at the same time the interference of a multinational famous for its unscrupulous action, the fear that «UBER files» is somehow reappearing in our country, etc”.

“If it doesn’t go well at a national level, it doesn’t go any better at a regional level”, they argue from Usb “the President of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto who very happily proclaims the arrival of UBER and the inclusion of another 200 uncontrolled NCC licenses highlights the pleasure towards multinationals and private services instead of investing in improving the public service even of the taxis of which they are part and aggressively fighting illegal activity. Even worse in the Lamezo area. After more than a year now, not even a yellow line has been created in the Lamezo area, not even a telephone to use the taxi service has been repaired and much more that would have improved the public service of which taxi drivers are part. There have been many meetings and many promises from Mayor Mascaro who we invite to the demonstration tomorrow at 10am at Lamezia Terme airport so that the taxi drivers themselves can illustrate to him the terrible quality that is being given to citizens due to poor organization between vertical signs and horizontal, on the safety of carrying out an appropriate public service and on competition between categories where only taxi drivers pay due to their sense of legality”.

Finally, they argue that “after the complaint to the Prefect of Catanzaro, which was immediately accepted, where we requested that the appropriate investigations be carried out against illegal activity, a real crime to be fought in our territory, we now want a table that recognizes which side we are on. We want to have the possibility of legitimately carrying out a public service worthy of any civilized country. Some people think they will let us die slowly but we will not let the agony take over and we will rebel against this market freely financed by those who should actually protect public services”.
