From June 28th there Medici Fortress of Arezzo will host dozens of events with stars of national and international caliber for a summer of music and performing arts.
The review “Summer in the Fortress” edited by Guido D’Arezzo Foundation will lead to the Tuscan city concerts, theater shows, dance performances, book presentations and conferences.
Guests: Paolo Benvegnù, Amanda Sandrelli, Giobbe Covatta, Rocco Papaleo, Luca Barbareschi, Paola Turci, Premiata Forneria Marconi singing De André, Max Angioni, the Tony Award Stefano Massini and many others.
Among the events not to be missed “Barba live” with Luca Barbareschi which inaugurates the exhibition Friday 28 Junean ironic, counter-current, pop and free theatrical show after two successful television seasons.
We continue Friday 19 July with Max Angioni who returns to the theater with his new comedy show “Even less”, a show in which the actor does not spare his proverbial self-irony to entertain the audience, an imaginative world through which small daily events and big existential questions are filtered.
A special event that of Saturday 20 July: the famous one Premiata forneria Marconi, group born in 1970 in a mix of rock, progressive and classical music creating a single fascinating entity, De André sings forty-five years after the “Fabrizio De André and PFM in concert” tour.
Thursday 25 July Paola Turci and Gino Castaldo they will talk in “The Time of the Giants”, a musical show to tell the beauty and power of Italian music in one of its moments of maximum splendor, the three-year period 1979-1981. Dalla, Battiato, Guccini, De André, Battisti, Daniele will be some of the protagonists of a pressing storytelling between words and music inspired by the book “The sky was burning with stars. The magical season of Italian singer-songwriters” by Gino Castaldo.
Summer in the Fortress: the program of shows
Summer in the Fortress 2024 continues 5, 6 and 7 July with Boarding Festival which debuts this year with three days of shows, concerts and workshops under the artistic direction of La Filostoccola which brings to Arezzo, among others, the show “Scoop (Donna sapiens)” Of Job Covatta (05/07 at 9.30 pm), which wants to demonstrate to us, with its irreverent and desecrating language, the superiority of women over men, and “Entertainment” Of Rocco Papaleo (07/07 at 9pm), the show directed by director Valter Lupo, a sort of personal diary that collects thoughts from different days to browse through.
Followed by Monday July 8 The Golden Eagle Award – City of Arezzo, organized by Ginnastica Petrarca with the Municipality of Arezzo and Coni of Arezzo, for an evening dedicated to the values of sport expressed in daily life, special guest Igor Cassina.
At the dawn of Sunday 14 July the unmissable concert of Paolo Benvegnù signed Mengo Music Fest, While Wednesday 17 July the Tony award on the stage of the Fortezza Medicea Stefano Massini paired with Corrado Formigli in collaboration with Officine della Cultura as part of Smart Festival with the show “Titanic”. Thursday 18 July, however, the concert of Appino always within the scope of Mengo Music Fest.
It’s still Sunday 21 July organized by Officine della Cultura as part of Smart Festival “The carnival of insects” with Amanda Sandrelli and Paolo Giovannucci who lend their voices to cockroaches, butterflies, bees, spiders and mosquitoes in a show of satire, puns and neologisms born from the creativity of Stefano Benni, a work of music and words that comes to life thanks to timbral eclecticism of the OMultiethnic orchestra of Arezzo.
Wednesday 24 July Silvia Midnight will perform in a concert in honor of the famous singer Mina, whose masterpieces will be interpreted by the Bolognese singer. The concert is a Teatro Verdi production in Montecatini.
Special event that of Friday 26 July “Out of balance” during which six acrobats from the Eleina D. Company will perform an evocative performance with safety harnesses and semi-static ropes on the inclined plane in pre-established points of the fortress for a unique experience, thanks also to the collaboration of the guides who will accompany the spectators along the marked route .
Saturday 27 July the conference will be held criminologist Roberta Bruzzone, a Teatro Verdi Montecatini production. Monday 29 July the final concert of the project will be on stage “The opera rooms”, a series of improvement masterclasses dedicated to young musicians and singers. July ends with the concert of Venus Of Wednesday 31st in the context of Mengo Music Fest.
The comedy show of Jonathan Canini, production Teatro Verdi of Montecatini, inaugurates the month of August Thursday 1st, while Friday 23rd come back “Guido d’Arezzo” International Polyphonic Popular Competition during which choirs from all over the world will compete.
