Monday 3 June, on the occasion of World Bicycle Dayshe has arrived the official, by the International Cycling Federation, relating to the assignment of Olympic quotas of mountain bikes for i Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
They will be 72 male and female athletes in total competing during the competition scheduled for the Hill of Elancourt.
As host country, France is entitled to two quotas – one for men and one for women – while another two Olympic quotas will be allocated to the so-called universality placesi.e. places that will be assigned by the Tripartite Commission.
The others 68 seats – 34 for women and 34 for men – were defined on the basis of the competitions valid for qualification for the five-round event, with a maximum of two quota places for men and two for women for each National Olympic Committee (one fewer per gender than in Tokyo 2020, where the limit was set at three).
In Paris, theItaly will see at the starting line of the men’s and women’s trials two runners by gender.
Since National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes’ participation in the Paris Games depends on their NOC’s selection of representatives in the delegation to Paris 2024.
