Alma is starting to look at the market after president Salvatore Guida announced the name of the coach for next season in the person of Antonio Aiello last Wednesday. Last week the two met several times in Fano – Aiello lives in Milano Marittima – to start planning the preparation of the squad of players for the next championship. He clearly will start with the players who know each other best.
Mister Aiello managed Albenga this year, taking over from Fabio Fossati in January, and remaining there until the end of April when he resigned after having achieved safety at a time when the Ingauna club had revealed sinister creaks in the ownership. In the four months in which he sat on the Ligurian bench, Mr. Aiello got an idea of the players he had at his disposal and therefore it is not excluded that some former Juventus player could arrive this time on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. An interesting profile, also given his young age, could be that of Giuseppe La Vecchia, born in 2005, who Aiello launched into the first team and who the boy repaid with 14 appearances and 1 goal.
La Vecchia is a playmaker who grew up in the youth teams of Monza and Turin, used to playing in multiple roles in the offensive department and in the scheme used by Aiello, the 3-5-2, he covered the position of attacking midfielder and right winger. He could be Fano’s first new signing. The Fano coach didn’t have time to meet former Granata Mateo Likaxhiu, a 23-year-old midfielder, in Albenga because the Italian-Albanian had moved to Livorno in December. Born in Pesaro, Likaxhiu played a good championship with the Alma shirt two years ago and it is not certain that he cannot wear it again one day. The same thing goes for the young people who have just finished the championship. President Guida and Mr. Aiello himself are planning to confirm several players, but everything remains to be seen how the situation will evolve in terms of payments of outstanding debts and reassurances regarding the future of the Via Toscanini club.
If Guida is able to provide guarantees, it cannot be ruled out that perhaps some elements could remain next year too, otherwise they will all be released on 30 June. This week the meetings will continue to settle the outstanding issues so we will soon be able to know something more.
