Security, fight against crime, decorum and fight against degradation: what are the recipes of the ten candidates for mayor of Florence?
A topic that according to the Ipsos survey published a few days ago is in second place among the priorities of Florentines (39%) and for months it has been at the center of the electoral campaign, amidst proposals, criticisms and political clashes. With the centre-right and Iv pushing hard on the issue, attacking the outgoing administration and making a flag of the critical issues in the Cascine park, and the centre-left offering solutions, complaining of a lack of support from the Government.
What is certain is that the perception of insecurity in Florence has increased significantly in recent years, from the wave of splits to repeated attacks in front of the Santa Maria Novella station, settling of accounts between drug dealers, up to the growing alarm over baby gangs, with the numbers of the national police report which see Florence among the cities where the phenomenon he grew more. The 200 officers who do not arrive, the lack of a CPR which is opposed by a large part of the centre-left, the use of traffic police and the underestimation of the problem by the institutions: these have been, over the months, the ingredients of a daily controversy on the topic of safety.
Tensions that after the electoral duel on the Cascine resurfaced during the last debate between candidates and citizens’ committees in Santo Spirito, with a harsh challenge to the outgoing council.
We line up the proposals on safety and decorum from the various aspiring mayors, an operation that we will repeat in the next few days on other topics that are decisive for the future of Florence.
