“As with all things in life, often when the issue of old age and welfare is framed, the points of view used to frame the issue are different. Now, in times of scarce resources, what is needed is to ensure that costs are transformed into resources”, says Filippo Rinaldi, deputy head of the Fratelli d’Italia health department and candidate on the “Paolo Mazzocco mayor” list for the municipality of Massa Marittima. “The elderly, or rather we are now talking about 4 ages, must not be a “burden” for the community, but rather, it can and must become a resource – comments Rinaldi. – The elderly person should not be seen as a burden, but only as a person who at a certain age, who needs to live a peaceful life peacefully. Clearly, we all know that there are elderly people who are not self-sufficient, elderly people in good conditions and those in excellent health conditions. But each of these situations, if looked at from the right angle, if well framed, could represent a job opportunity for young people and at the same time repopulation of the territories”. “For example, Massa Marittima, due to the conformity of its territory and its proximity to the sea, is well suited as a place to welcome elderly people. But unfortunately. for non-self-sufficient people in Italy we would need around 600,000 places, when instead we have less than 300,000: and this is a problem. There is “cohousing” for elderly couples who want to live in small, self-protecting communities; there are day centers seen as operational places and not just as games rooms. In fact, an elderly person who is well spends less on medicines and spends more to enjoy life: therefore physical activity, gyms, swimming pools and qualified instructors are sought after. Naturally, people in excellent physical condition have the task of being an active part of the project, in order to make the project economically attractive, and make it accessible to less well-off people. Only in this way, in this way, is it possible to establish a vicious circle that creates community, which goes from the workplace for young people, to solidarity between generations to an improvement in the quality of life”. “That this concept is not an abstraction, but is a real economy, I don’t say it – explains Rinaldi – but the 5 billion dollars that Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos spent to start the wellness project for the elderly. Therefore, as you can imagine, the owners of Windows, Amazon or Facebook rarely move for glory”, concludes Filippo Rinaldi, doctor and candidate for Mayor Paolo Mazzocco.
