Debate and party for the Under 35 candidates on the Cesena electoral lists

The “Under 35” candidates from the various lists running in the next local elections gathered a few hours before the vote to explain the various intentions in view of the polls. It was Fondamenta Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra first and Marco Casali (Fdi) who then made explicit the need for a similar public discussion. Which has now been organized and which will also be a party dedicated to younger people.

The match will be held at the Rocca Malatestiana starting from 6.30pm on Friday. «We believe it is necessary – they explain from Fondamenta Avs – to open a dialogue between young people in the municipal elections. We need to find a space for discussion between people who, despite coming from different political and ideological positions, share the experience of being young adults in 2024. We need to open a dialogue on how to build together a safe and just world in which let it be beautiful to live not only for us, but also for the generation that immediately follows us and for the following ones.”

After the discussion, the evening will continue in a festive way: DJ sets by DJ DMĖ (Demetrio Castellucci) and DJ David (Daf Colony), until midnight. Refreshment point open from 7pm and information on 366/8274626.

Popular Civic for Cesena

A meeting scheduled for tomorrow will also talk about young people and the vote. It is organized by the “Civica Popolare per Cesena” list on the theme: “Person, young people and inclusiveness”, from 7pm at WellDone in Piazza Della Libertà. Self-financing dinner (reservations on 347/976 3673) and from 9pm with a moment of dialogue together with Carmelina Labruzzo (councilor for Services for people and families, Popular Civic candidate for the city council) and Anna Arisi, law student and passionate about social issues.

Francesco Biguzzi, candidate for the City Council, introduces and moderates.

«During the evening, we will talk about young people and with young people: we will address the issues of youth policies with particular regard to the rights of participation, inclusion, civic commitment, spirit of belonging to Europe. Our young people are experiencing a truly complex and often tiring period. After the years of the pandemic, in which they suddenly faced major changes in their relationship life and school careers, we are witnessing worrying phenomena: social withdrawal, school dropout, states of anxiety and depression. Youth policies will be at the center of the municipal political agenda in the coming years, because young people represent our future and must be cared for and protected.”

Pact for Cesena

The Pact for Cesena list proposes an institutional Pact. Alongside the municipal council of those elected by the citizens, “let the Youth Council also be created”.

«The speed of technology and a constantly changing world create a lack of communication between generations. Adults don’t understand young people; young people don’t know how to make themselves heard by adults. We propose The Voice of Young People, a Council made up of representatives – aged 16 to 25 – from high schools, universities, the world of work and trade unions. It will have full autonomy with respect to municipal politics and will be able to approve proposals, projects and directions for the city. The proposals developed by the Youth Council will be placed on the agenda of the work of the commissions and the City Council for discussion and possible approval. Often the youthful sensitivities experienced by students and workers are not listened to in institutions. This is where the younger generations’ disinterest in politics comes from. The only way to fight the plague is to involve them in the decision-making process to make their point of view count.”

Giangrandi and Instagram

Marco Grangrandi, mayoral candidate of “Citizens at the centre”, to break away from the mold of ordinary electoral communication and get closer to young people, has chosen a well-known platform in the social universe. «We already know – explains Giangrandi – that, next weekend, many young people will unfortunately desert the polls. It’s a real shame because every new voter who doesn’t vote is a defeat for politics. The involvement of the new generations is one of the central points of our electoral program because the choices of the future cannot fail to concern those who will live that future. For this reason, together with the Cesena instagrammer Federico Pasini, we invented a social space in which to dialogue directly with young people. Taking advantage of his platform of over 15 thousand followers, I asked him to open a dialogue window for us, where I could interact with everyone, from students to ‘maranzas’. The result is three video clips which, somewhere between serious and zany, represent a sort of social experiment, an extreme attempt at confrontation with a generation that judges politics with prejudices and clichés. I certainly didn’t ask them to vote for me, but simply to exercise their supreme right to participate in institutional life, expressing a preference on 8 and 9 June.”
