Appeal to the G7 against inequalities: one hundred experts at the conference promoted by UniBa with the London School of Economics in Bari

A two-day event organized to discuss the different types of inequalities. Meetings and debates useful to give life to an appeal to be addressed to the leaders of the seven most industrialized countries in the world, who will meet in Puglia from 13 to 15 June, and push them to adopt policies useful for erasing economic and social gaps and diversities.

This is what the international conference organized by the Department of Economics and Finance of the University of Bari intends to do on 6 and 7 June when one hundred experts from the universities of New York, Chicago University, Tel Aviv, Barcelona, ​​Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Milan Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Palermo, Trento Bangalore and the World Bank and Federal Reserve will present their latest research on the phenomenon of inequalities and intergenerational mobility in three plenary sessions. Suggestions will emerge from the work on how to reactivate the social lift.

The two-day event, organized in partnership with the London School of Economics and with the support of Ance, Banca Popolare Pugliese, Banca di Credito Cooperativo Bari e Taranto, the Puglia Region and the Ministry of Education, will focus on the analysis of the inequalities of some of the which are inherited, others are dictated by the so-called places of departure of each individual, i.e. family, gender, country or region in which one resides and skin colour. According to the latest studies in the world, the income of the richest has increased as much as the poverty of the poorest. During the works, the first international database of inequalities of 70 countries will be presented: it is called Geom, an acronym for Global estimates of opportunity and mobility, and will be accessible online.
