A man always at the service of others and in the most authentic way in which this can be manifested: in silence, without ever showing off. Alfredo Monti he passed away at the age of 94, in Busto Arsizio and everyone clings to his beloved family.
Many remember him for his efforts for the parish of San Michele, for Asda and also for his long commitment to Christian Democracy. Every afternoon in the political headquarters in via Pozzi, always with that spirit of service, those people who ask for nothing except to make their talents available and their energies for the good of the community.
Franco Castiglioni he was city secretary of the DC in that period, as well as being a bustocco deeply involved in social issues, who was therefore able to see first-hand Alfredo’s value in various fields: «I was a young secretary and he was my guardian, a person always available, absolutely in love with the role she had and generous with everyone. For Asda’s Gianni Salvati he did so much for San Michele with the group of Luciano Cagnoni. The DC then had nine offices and it was a policy of meetings every evening, without cell phones… He coordinated everything and everyone, spending a lot of time. A fantastic person.”
A memory shared by the lawyer Walter Picco Bellazzi: «Every afternoon he was there at the headquarters in Via Pozzi, it was the operational arm of the DC. But we remember him above all with the friends from via Goito with whom they organized dinners to help the parish of San Michele.” Those were the years with don Luigi Brambillascaaround which the volunteer forces were mobilized to take care of the structures and more.”
This is how the former president of the city council describes it Valerio Mariani: «I have a memory of a very discreet person who served the DC and the PPI of Martinazzoli with great professionalism. A man who, after the political vicissitudes of the DC heirs, had left his business and dedicated himself to volunteering. A few years ago I found him at a dinner in the town of San Vincenzo as a volunteer.” And again: «A man who interpreted politics and respect for its institutions (especially the parties) in the highest sense. It makes me smile to think that it was “asleep” Republic Day. A sign of destiny for a man “discreetly” committed to the institutions. Hello Alfredo.”
Alfredo Monti’s funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday 4 June at 3.15 pm in the church of San Carlo. The rosary will be held this evening at 5pm in the farewell room of the “Le Origini Mismirigo” funeral home, in viale Sicilia 5 and right here he will be able to say goodbye until the time of the funeral.
