Taekwondo: Puglia wins the Olympic Dream Cup

ROME, 03 JUN – The four days which saw taekwondo as the protagonist at the Foro Italico ended today in Rome. The last appointment was reserved as per tradition for the Olympic Dream Cup. The national competition, which sees the best athletes from all the regions of Italy competing from Cadets to Seniors, recorded the success of Puglia which at the end of an exciting head to head they overcame Lazio. Sicily was also on the podium and together with Liguria, fourth in the final ranking, confirmed the growth of the movement. For the Puglia regional committee it is the fifth title ever, which has earned it the nickname “Pentacampeon”. Two important days, which once again showed the commitment of Fita in organizing the event and of the Regional Committees, sports associations and gyms from all over Italy in participating in an extraordinary initiative which has now become a fixed appointment on the sporting calendar Italian. After yesterday’s inaugural show and the first results, today the final verdicts: “Once again – says Angelo Cito – we close an edition that enriches us emotionally and gratifies us for the feedback received. To confirm all this, simply mention the numbers of this edition: over 2000 young athletes dream of becoming great protagonists Kim and Liù; 1300 kids from all over Italy who competed in the Olympic Dream Cup and finally the public who made these four days exciting beyond the And then, to close the circle, the beautiful moment that saw the over 60s as protagonists. Dozens of people who wore the dobok and conveyed emotions and passion to the audience who applauded them which immediately projects us to the Olympic Games.” “In two months – continues the number one of Fita – we will be in Paris with our Ilenia Matonti, Vito Dell’Aquila, Simone Alessio and Antonino Bossolo, but here, at the Foro Italico, we certainly had the fortune of admiring those little champions who tomorrow they will be able to give us five-circle emotions. The uniqueness of this event is that of having united the grassroots movement with those who can already be considered champions of our discipline and in this sense I like to borrow the definition that the Minister Abodi, coming to visit us, said: “a brilliant event”. Now concentrate: let’s go to Paris”. (HANDLE).
