Beppe Zaoliwell-known sailmaker and president of the Sanremo Yacht Club, is running for the city council with the Forum list in support of the mayoral candidate Alessandro Mager, and carries forward a vision focused on the importance of the exploitation of the sea for the economic and tourist development of the city.
“Sanremo has the great advantage of being a city that can exploit the sea all year round”, begins Zaoli. “We can develop this great resource in the economy of our city and in the entertainment and sports sector”.
Zaoli highlights how Sanremo is an ideal place for sporting events, having already demonstrated its ability to attract international attention. The Sanremo Yacht Club, of which Zaoli is president, has organized world championships, European championships and international regattas of various kinds, from classic to modern boats to those with foils. However, according to Zaoli, this can be further enhanced, considering the considerable tourism potential that derives from the sea and these activities. “Imagine all the tourism that can come from the sea and from these sports, it is enormous,” he underlines.
Zaoli reiterates the importance of involving young people in the world of the sea, offering them unique ecological and sporting opportunities. Furthermore, he highlights a lack in the offer of diving-related activities in Sanremo. “We don’t have a diving association in Sanremo that has an office,” complains Zaoli. Diving, in addition to being a fantastic sport, also represents an opportunity to monitor and preserve the marine environment. “Diving is even more of a sentinel: they see the first problem in the sea, they give us the input to modify the mistakes we are making,” she explains.
Finally, Zaoli underlines the importance of further developing the diving sector in Sanremo, stating that it will be one of the objectives to be pursued. “Having a diving school worthy of our city”, concludes Zaoli.
