Rome, 3 June. (askanews) – – The Pro Padel Club of Parma will host, from 12 to 14 July, the national finals of the ninth edition of the Padel Club Cup, the largest national amateur team championship organized by Msp Italia, the promotion body sports recognized by CONI. From Terni, the city where the 2023 finals took place, we then move on to Emilia-Romagna, and the home of a team that dominated the regional phases of the Club Cup, reaching second place twice in the national phase. On the field there will be athletes from 13 Italian regions: Abruzzo, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, Veneto. The finals will be able to count on the patronage of the Municipality of Parma and the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region. “Padel is certainly the most widespread sport in recent years – underlined Giammaria Manghi, head of the political secretariat of the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini – For this reason and for the great collaborative relationship that exists with the sports promotion body, we are particularly pleased to support the Club Cup, a regional team event, which will bring significant benefits to the area.

Among the members of Pro Padel Club, also the former footballer (and now coach) Stefano Morrone, who wore the Parma shirt between 2006 and 2013. “A few years ago I took over the club because I fell in love with padel – Morrone’s words – For for us, padel is sport, but also fun, aggregation and sharing, and for this reason we have proposed our candidacy to host the national finals of the Club Cup”. “The MSP Club Cup has increasingly taken on a national dimension – added Claudio Briganti, padel manager of Msp Italia -. For this reason, the goal is to bring the national finals to different locations year after year, also to raise awareness of what our work is. Lazio has won the last five titles (six total in eight editions), the last of which with the Pelota Padel of Latina: first it was the turn of Pink Padel (2019), Padel Colli Portuensi (2020), Latina Padel Club (2021) and Mas Padel (2022) recorded a new record of registrations, with over 450 teams (212 of which in Lazio) and over 10 thousand athletes involved. Among these, many former footballers such as Andrea and Daniele Conti (sons of Bruno, Giallorossi legend and world champion) and Vincent Candela also participated in the Club Cup Padelmania of Pescara, a club owned by Gigi Di Biagio, and the Arena Padel of Perugia, club of two world champions such as Marco Materazzi and Andrea Barzagli. But the Club Cup, for some years now, has also been synonymous with inclusion. The national padel mixto finals will also be played in Parma, in which pairs composed of a standing player (able-bodied) and a seated player with a motor disability will compete: a project promoted by Asd Sportinsieme Roma and by Msp Italia and supported by the Entain foundation. Sixteen teams in pairs from all over Italy, with the national champion team captained by Colonel Roberto Punzo.
