Milk day. In Cremona the evolution of dairy products

World Milk Day was celebrated all over the world last Saturday 1st June: the Day was promoted by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation) since 2001 to underline the centrality of this food and of its production chain and is celebrated in 40 countries around the world.

A reality that in Italy rhymes with Cremona, the undisputed capital of milk, where the event has been celebrated for almost 80 years International Livestock Fairs which will be staged in the Lombardy capital in 2024 from 28 to 30 November 2024.

The event, which already had an extraordinary success in 2023, also this year presents a program capable of arousing considerable interest at an international level.

“The organization of the event – clarifies in this regard the director of Cremona Fiere, Massimo De Belliswhich is at the helm of the powerful organizational machine – is already at an advanced stage and is developing the consolidated relationships that we maintain with the breeding and production world with the aim of bringing new value at the fairobviously starting from the animals, continuing with the exhibition part and then with the conference part”.

Moreover, as is the tradition of the latest versions of the event, the relationship with the breeding world is very close: “the construction of the 2024 event began already in January, as soon as the success of 2023 was concluded, with moments of reflection and follow up meetings . Periodic meetings with Italian and foreign breeders began months ago (with the latter obviously online), which are the basis of the success of the exhibition, which was born (and wants to remain) as an opportunity desired by breeders and operators and dedicated to the livestock world”.

Even though the event is still many months away, the numbers already look significant, starting from the animals present – which in 2023 were 600 animals from all Italian and foreign regions, presented by 150 farms of the best genetic selection of the Holstein, Red Holstein, Brown Swiss and Jersey breeds -, continuing with the companies that in many cases, given the excellent success of the 2023 event, they wanted – assures De Bellis – to guarantee themselves the possibility of participating in the 2024 edition from the first months of 2024 (in 2023 there were 200 companies present with 400 brands represented). Also under construction conference programme – traditional flagship of Cremona – which will be divided between confirmations (On the way to Cremona schools competition; technical and economic conference programme, focus on current issues and training opportunities) and also some new features with quality collaborations that are selling the their definitive realization in these days.

A significant voice is that of Agapito Fernandezthe breeder who, with the beautiful Llinde Ariel Jordan, won the title of Supreme Champion of the 2023 edition.

“The Cremona international fair is in my opinion – explains Agapito, who was reached for a comment on the occasion – the best European fair and one of the best in the world as it brings together all the operators in the dairy sector. The secret of the success of the event lies in the fact that it is brought to life by a group of young entrepreneurs, great protagonists of the dairy sector, who make great efforts to offer a valuable event, which in addition to the livestock competitions and the auction, it also presents a high-quality conference program. For my part, I am happy to contribute and work every day to ensure that my cows are in the best conditions and to continue building this great show.”
