VARESE – Children in classes 4A and 5A of private primary school Mary Help of Christians they met today, Monday 3 June, at the Santuccio Theatre the Varese director from Varese Andrea Chiodi for a moment of sharing on the theme “Dante one of us”. The director, in introducing himself, said that he attended the school based in Casbeno, where he discovered the passion for theatre which he has transformed into his work over time.
The songs of the Divine Comedy
Sitting on the characteristic steps of the theater in via Sacco, the children watched with keen interest and participation, as well as amazement, the reading and dramatization of some songs from the Divine Comedy edited by Chiodi. The students were invited to look at the figure of Dante, the great poet, as an “ordinary” man, not in profile as he is always portrayed but frontally, as “one of us”, to grasp his human dimension, with all the emotions and the fragilities that characterize it, first of all fear and faith in mercy. They were not missed anecdotes, reflections and questions on the work, the meetings, the main figures and the symbolism. Curiosity is at the root of knowledge, it is the “whys” that help us become active thinkers and Dante, in his brilliant work, as Chiodi explained, invites us to be curious, dare and look beyond.

The meeting is part of the project “Travelling with Dante to discover the Divine Comedy” that the children are carrying out at school. A stimulating challenge to present Dante and the Divine Comedy at primary school. An adventure for both students and teachers, an exciting journey that opens up many scenarios, which stimulates people to think and reflect and which teaches that one should never be satisfied with knowledge. Andrea Chiodi greeted the children with the famous verse “The love that moves the sun and other stars”, love is the engine of everything; the love of God but also the energy that pushes us to experiment, and to try to grasp the impossible.
