In the wake of the activity already carried out to protect the colony of seahorses recently introduced into the ecosystem of the Mar Piccolo Regional Park, in recent days 4 subjects were intercepted on board two different units, intent on lowering networks not allowed in the second breast of Little Sea.
In addition to contesting the administrative sanctions of the case, for a total of 2,000 euros, approximately 300 meters of illicitly used fishing net were seized from the arrested individuals.
Having reached the gates of the summer season, the Coast Guard of Taranto is preparing to deploy all the nautical means at its disposal at sea (4 patrol boats and 3 inflatable boats) along the entire coastline of its competence, which includes the coastal strip of the Basilicata Jonica up to municipality of Manduria, where the protection of bathing will be combined with ordinary institutional activities to protect the environment, navigation safety and sustainable fishing.
