Accompanying him is the true emotional heart of the film. That is, its two leading actors: the very young Francesco Lombardo, for the first time on the big screen, and Andrea Lattanzi (the TV series Summertime, Grazie Ragazzi), whose instinctive acting gives great naturalness, credibility and delicacy to two characters that are very difficult to give.
The film follows in the footsteps of Denni (with an I), ten years old and a mission to accomplish: to save his mother from his father’s violence and abuse. Small as he is, he can’t do it alone. So she decides to ask for help from someone who kills people for a living: a super-killer. The person chosen is Secco, who unfortunately for him is not really a criminal, but rather a harmless drifter in desperate need of money, who pretends to accept the job only to rob the child’s father…
Child-friendly drama with an unfortunately ever-present theme that is intertwined with the buddy movie, the almost picaresque adventure poised between fantasy and an all too crude reality, and a very sui generis gangster movie, Santoni’s first work it is also and above all the story of a friendship that goes beyond appearances and the boundaries of the imagination, and which leads its protagonists to question the meaning of being men, and the fear and mystery that unites and separates fathers and sons.
