PORTO SAN GIORGIO – Team Atletica Marche finished in second place in the overall men’s and women’s club championships, in both cases behind the Avis Macerata squad. TAM literally won the men’s throwing sector with the three men from San Giorgio Del Gatto, Olivieri and Rossi Sabatini.

In the weight class Lorenzo Del Gatto, a pupil of Alfio Petrelli, came close to his best measurements with 19.25 m and deserved to be called up in the blue jersey for the European Championships, an event scheduled from 7 to 12 July at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

In the hammer, the multiple Italian champion Giorgio Olivieri dominated, throwing the tool 70 meters round and round; the discus was instead a conquering ground for Gabriele Rossi Sabatini, thanks to a throw of 49.11 m. Then the long jumper Luca Peroni, despite an injury that limited him, came close to the 7 m wall for the umpteenth time, settling, so to speak, with a leap of 6.90 m.

TAM then relied on the speed of junior Lorenzo Lanciotti, who improved in the 200 m, with 22”49, and confirmed himself in the 100 m with 11”14; the young Fausto Essengo Kitenge made his victorious debut in the 400 m hurdles in 1’00”82; Riccardo Picchio also took first place in the 10 km walk, while Riccardo Girotti ran the 800 m in 1’56”47.

In the women’s field, the most significant results came from the 4×100 m relay with Frontalini, Rivellini, Luchetti and Natalucci capable of running in 48”62 and from student India Gray, who rose to 1.64 m in the high jump.

The veteran Enrica Cipolloni took first place and precious points in the shot put, 11.08 m, while the twenty-year-old Alessandra Rivellini stopped the clock in the 100 m at 12”53. Benedetta Pompei finished her effort in the 3000 m steeplechase in 12’31”33 and the quartet of the 4×400 m, Rivellini, Frontalini, Luchetti and Natalucci, ran in 3’58”33.
