A great joy, a deserved championship that brings happiness to the entire Paduan rugby movement. “I was lucky to become coach of a club like Petrarca at 34 years old, and even more so to lead it for seven, wonderful years, which ended with this match, being able to formalize my move to the staff of the Under 20 national team, the words of coach Andrea MARcato. Last year’s final, however, was a nightmare for the result and for disappointing a lot of people, and this rematch means a lot to me and to the whole group. However, I must say at Viadana that they must be deeply proud, for having brought the city and the club back to where they deserve, rebuilding an enthusiasm that was not at all obvious to rebuild. I dedicate the victory to my wife and daughter, and to my two grandmothers who have always been my guardian angels. Italian rugby is too often analyzed only for sensations and not for certain data: the idea of a bad season was a little distorted by these sensations, but I really never had a doubt about my boys, having also to consider having played for a long time without a player as fundamental to us as Lyle, our main footballer. I must say that Atkins’ absence in the semi-final match against Rovigo was one of the elements that made us think that things were finally turning in a favorable way for us, and today’s match confirmed this by having fielded the best seasonal performance just when it mattered most.”
