Venice, an illy coffee at the Biennale

A coffee with art: illy, the Trieste-based company that is the standard-bearer of Italian coffee, confirms its close link with art – a world with which it has collaborated intensely for over thirty years – and is organizing the illy on the occasion of the 2024 Art Biennale Art Conversations, a series of dialogues on art which this year are created in collaboration with The Human Safety Net.

During the meetings, artists, curators and art historians debate issues related to the 2024 Art Biennale, “Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere”. The program intends to offer art enthusiasts a space for reflection where they can delve deeper and develop the themes, intuitions and suggestions proposed by the 60th International Art Exhibition, of which illycaffè is the main sponsor. Through three meetings we will explore the way in which art can overcome borders, linguistic and cultural barriers, entering into relationships with others and promoting social justice in a world in which we are all, in our own way, “foreigners”. .

The first of the three events will be held on June 3rd at 6.30 pm and includes a dialogue between Michael Anastassiades, designer and artist, and Alberto Salvadori, curator and director of the ICA Foundation, Milan. The meeting will be moderated by Valentina Raggi, editor-in-chief of AD. The theme of the meeting will be “The borders of ideas”. The second meeting, entitled “Italian Pavilion”, will be held on 11 June at 6.30 pm and will be dedicated to the Italian Pavilion at the 2024 Art Biennale, in which the focus will be on listening and reciprocity, since “There meet to listen to each other and to listen to others”. Present were the artist Massimo Bartolini and the curator Luca Cerizza. The meeting will be moderated by the journalist, critic and art historian Angela Vettese. The last meeting, scheduled for June 27 at 6.30 pm, will host a dialogue entitled “Art for Social Impact” between the Iranian artist Mehrnoosh Roshanaei and the American artist Tracey Snelling, author of the installation “About Us” curated by Luca Massimo Barbero and recently inaugurated in the Art Studio on the third floor of the Procuratie Vecchie and Farian Sabahi, professor, researcher and journalist expert on the Middle East. The meeting will be moderated by the journalist Antonella Benanzato.

All meetings will be held at the House of The Human Safety Net at the Procuratie Vecchie, in Piazza San Marco, in Venice. The first and third meetings will be in English with the possibility of using an interpreting service. Places will be available until sold out and upon registration via email [email protected].

On the occasion of the Biennale illy also presented the new illy Art Collection signed by four emerging Latin American artists chosen by the curator of Biennale Arte 2024 Adriano Pedrosa from among those exhibiting in the exhibition. Each signed a cup.

“The new illy Art Collection, which takes up the theme of the 2024 Art Biennale, is dedicated to those who are foreign or distant and promotes, through the language of contemporary art, the different forms of dialogue and inclusion, which range from respect for roots and culture of all peoples to the importance of living in balance with nature, values that illycaffè supports along the entire supply chain, always placing the person and the environment at the center of all its activities” said Cristina Scocchia, CEO of illycaffè during the presentation event.
