They were two very young people – a 20-year-old from Gambettola and a 17-year-old from Cesenatico, both Italian – the robbers who broke into the Ciacci jewelery shop in via Garibaldi on Saturday at noon: the mobile squad managed to solve the case in less than 24 hours, arresting both . Now the two, against whom the crime of aggravated robbery is contested, await the validation hearing in front of the investigating judge: the 20-year-old, with no criminal record, is officially defended by the lawyer Gianluigi Durante, while the 17-year-old, still a student, he is in the first reception center for minors in Bologna, also protected ex officio by the lawyer Elena Bassano.

The raid

Having entered the jewelry store, the two budding robbers immobilized the owner and the shop assistant by binding their wrists with cable ties, and then directed their aims towards the branded watches. But something went wrong for the robbers: the owner managed to free himself from the grip that was blocking his wrists and then got into a fight with one of the two criminals, the 20-year-old, managing to keep him still and then call the police. For the jewelry store manager there were also some abrasions on the limbs, which were treated in the emergency room: a prognosis of 20 days was assessed.

the loot in the backpack

The 17-year-old however managed to escape before the police squad and the forensic police arrived, but the searches ended before the new day arrived. On Saturday evening around 10pm the teenager was tracked down by the flying squad while he was in Cesenatico. He was walking with his friends, carrying a backpack inside which 13 luxury watches were found: it was impossible not to identify them with the loot from the robbery, and so the minor was arrested too.

The testimonies of the shopkeepers were decisive for the investigation, as they reported how the pair of robbers had previously carried out a sort of inspection of the jewelery shop. A perhaps fatal mistake, because even the clothing of the two would have contributed to the recognition of the subjects and the success of the research.
