ISERNIA – This morning, the 78th anniversary of the Foundation of the Italian Republic was celebrated in Piazza Tullio Tedeschi.
An emotional and highly significant ceremony, which saw the participation of institutions, associations, the Regional School Office, the “Molise” Army Military Command and citizens who came together to promote the constitutional values of freedom, equality and solidarity .
The guard of honor, the banners of the decorated municipalities and the fighting associations lined up near the War Memorial for the raising of the flag and the laying of the crown by the Prefect, Franca Tancredi.
The ceremony then continued in the square in front of the municipal villa, in the presence of the civil, military and religious authorities and was open to the whole community, in particular young people.
During the event, which was enriched by the musical and artistic performances of the students of the “San Giovanni Bosco” comprehensive institute of Isernia, of the “Colli al Volturno” comprehensive institute, of the “Fermi Mattei” higher secondary education institute of Isernia and the “Manuppella” Art School of Isernia, were awarded the Diplomas of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, granted by the President of the Republic.

Today was a particularly rich ceremony, the organization of which was the result of collaboration between the Prefecture, Municipality, Schools and voluntary associations.
It is this spirit of cooperation between institutions that I would like to underline today, together with the participation of our children, which is fundamental in order to transmit to the new generations the ideals of unity and cohesion which are and must continue to be the driving force of Italy.

This year’s Republic Day in Isernia was also an opportunity to combine the values of democracy, freedom and the fight against abuses with solidarity and volunteering. On this occasion, the Prefecture promoted a new initiative of social importance in collaboration with the municipal Avis and the ‘Donatorinati’ association, made up of volunteers from the State Police.
Thanks to the presence of the regional Avis blood truck, parked in the area in front of the court, Prefect Tancredi and the police were able to donate blood in a gesture of great altruism. Franca Tancredi, prefect of Isernia, who strongly wanted this event and who will thus continue the work of promoting volunteering started in the area since last year, in tandem with local associations and with CSV Molise.
