June 2nd, Republic Day celebrations. President Mattarella: “Independence and freedom must be defended every day”. Ceremony and presentation of the Honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in L’Aquila.
“Celebrating the seventy-eight years of the birth of the Italian Republic recalls the values of our identity and of a far-sighted and wise Constitution, the result of the extraordinary rebirth that began with the Liberation struggle. Independence and freedom are achievements that must be defended every day, in communion of intent and with the ability to cooperate for the common good.” Thus today the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarellato the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragoneon the occasion of June 2.
As regards the celebrations of the Republic Day in L’Aquila, at the Villa Comunale, the laying of a wreath at the War Memorial, a minute of silence and reflection and the reading by the Prefect Giancarlo Di Vincenzoof the message from the President of the Republic, in the presence of the mayor Pierluigi Biondi and civil and military authorities. The Flag Raising, to the tune of the National Anthem, organized by the local State Conservatory of Music.
