On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic, the Prefecture, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Cuneo, promoted a solemn public ceremony in Piazza Galimberti in the presence of the highest institutional and political authorities of the province.
The celebration began with the flag-raising ceremony, the intervention of an armed picket of the 2nd Alpine Regiment of Cuneo and of a joint representation of the Armed and Public Rescue Corps as well as the “Duccio Galimberti” Musical Band of the City of Cuneo .
During the ceremony, the diplomas of honor of the Order “Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” awarded by the President of the Republic to twelve citizens of Granda were awarded

Dr. Silvia MERLO (Cuneo). She is the CEO of the Merlo Spa Group, daughter of the knight Amilcare Merlo, she is also the director of Tecnoindustrie Spa specialized in the waste collection and transport sector.
Since 2019 he has been on the board of directors of Sanlorenzo spa, a company operating in the field of yacht design and production. She was on the board of directors of the GEDI publishing group and was also in Leonardo Spa, a leading company in the aerospace sector. You are currently president of the Cuneo Hospital Foundation.
Mr. Stefano MILANESIO Bra – metalworker, has always been involved in volunteering, with Caritas and the Red Cross of Bra. He also works for the association Parents of disabled people and founded the “Abbracciamo” association which provides support to disadvantaged categories and homeless people.
KNIGHTS
Mr. Bartolomeo BARALE (Cherasco), an employee of the State Railways, is a blood donor with 160 donations, so much so that he deserves the FIDAS Gold Star. He serves as a volunteer collaborating with the Municipality of Cherasco, in particular at the Senior Center and with the Civil Protection.
Mr. Mauro BERNARDI (Borgo S. Dalmazzo), entrepreneur in the food sector, was president of the Ente Fiera Fredda of Borgo San Dalmazzo, a municipality in which he was also councilor and vice mayor. He was vice president of the area for Confartigianato; since 2016 he has been president of the ATL and is on the provincial council of Confartigianato as well as on the board of directors of the Terre dei Savoia association. Since 2020 he has been president of the Cuneo Calcio association and last May he joined the board of directors of the CRC Foundation.
Dr. Ilaria BLANGETTI (Cuneo), an anesthesiologist, has been director of Anesthesia and Resuscitation at Mondovì hospital since 2019. She is very involved in social work, she is a Red Cross volunteer and she was also involved in Nocera Umbra after the 1997 earthquake, setting up a reception camp. She also volunteers in Kenya, at a hospital in the country. She is a member of AIDO and has received several awards for her social commitment.
Mr. Maurizio BRANCALEONI (Benevagienna) – graduated in Physics, was one of the founders of the Italian AUMA, a branch of the German group of the same name, leader in the motorization of industrial valves and taps. He was a director of the company until his retirement. A technical and scientific communicator, he has written articles for the main technical magazines in the sector. Active in volunteering, for 20 years he was a blood donor and, with the authorization of the Archbishop of Milan, he was involved in religious teaching. Active in social affairs and in support of amateur sports associations.
App. Marco D’AMICO (Cuneo), carries out his activity in the Carabinieri at the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command. He received a Commendation, a Long Service Medal and a Medal of Merit for his efforts during the pandemic. Volunteer for the Neuroland association, which operates at the Santa Margherita hospital in Turin.
Dr. Francesco D’ANGELO (Boves), vice prefect and Head of Cabinet at the Prefecture of Cuneo. In 2001 he obtained a Master’s degree in “Disaster management”, following which he managed the operational centers of Ceva and Borgo San Dalmazzo following the floods that hit the area.
Dr. Antonianna GIARMANA’ (Racconigi), works at the Prefecture of Cuneo as an administrative officer. He currently holds the position of head of the Administrative Police office as well as the Cults and Recognition of Legal Persons Office. Over the course of her career, thanks to his preparation, she has become a point of reference for colleagues and outsiders.
Location Claudio GROSSO (Fossano), who enlisted in 1984, has been deployed to the Aosta Group in Fossano since 1991 where, since 2015, he has held the position of Corps non-commissioned officer as the Commander’s privileged interlocutor. He has participated in numerous missions abroad and is also very active in local volunteering, in particular he is a member of the Strafossan association, with which he organizes charitable events.
Superintendent Carmine RAPUANO (Salmour), an employee of the State Police since 1981, collaborated in the operations to find General Dozier, kidnapped in Verona by the Red Brigades. In 2007 he was transferred to the Cuneo Police Headquarters. In his free time he dedicates himself to volunteering and organizing charity events. He has been a blood donor for many years.
Mr. Pier Paolo RAVERA (Benevagienna), he worked at the Bene Vagienna Cooperative Credit Institute, then becoming director of the Narzole and Fossano branches, until becoming manager of the commercial area. In 2007 he became director general of the institute. He concluded his working career in the BCC of Cherasco, of which he was director until 2022. He has always been involved in social work and has always paid attention to the employees and the training paths of their children.
In the afternoon, the Prefecture garden will be open from 4.30pm to 6.30pm where the Duccio Galimberti “Città di Cuneo” musical band will entertain the public with musical pieces. Citizens are invited to participate.
