The Rhegium Julii summer season starts again with a cycle of programming and entertainment cultural events of great intensity which makes the creative soul of the association and the meaning found in the subtitle of its logo intriguing: the art of reading, the vice of writing.

The structure of summer events includes two moments that distinguish the June phase from the hottest phase of July and August. The meetings – which they will have starting in June – they will make use of a rich calendar of meetings called A las sei de la tarde, at seven in the eveningwhich will be held every Monday of the month.

A Las sei de la tarde precedes the 2023 summer season of literary cafés and will allow citizens to be introduced to some protagonists of the Italian cultural world worthy of being disseminated and explored in depth. The works presented are awaited with great curiosity due to the current thinking of all the selected essayists and authors.

The program includes Bebbedetta Borrata on Monday 3 June. Writer, essayist, former teacher in high schools and at the University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria. She has been involved in various forums Jacopo da Lentini, Dante Alighieri, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, Giovanni Verga, Italo Calvino.

Professor of French language and translation at the University of Messina, Renè Corona is an acclaimed poet recognized with a special prize named after the poet Alba Florio with the volume The imprecise count – Puntoacapo publisher. He has translated several Italian and foreign poets for the magazine Europe including Gozzano, Caproni, Magrelli, Paul De Roux Kadhim Jihad Hassan, Yves Leclair.and has published in theAmourier the first French translation of Gesualdo Bufalino’s poems My love and edited the first translation of Henri Calet’s novel Lazy Italy.

He is the author of two novels including l’hèbètude des tendres (Finitude, 2012), followed by the monograph Le singulier pluriel ou “Icare et les èlegiaques” (Paris, Hermann, 2016) and the poetic collections MessinElègie (Triages, Tarabuste, 2015), L’èchancrure du quotidien (L’Harmattan, 2017), Spelling in the courtyards (puntoacapo, 2019), The alphabet of dawn (2021), The tenant of words (2022, The snowdrops of elsewhere (2023 ). .He translated from French the work Francois d’Assise based on the novel by Joseph Deltei.
